Once I finished talking to Aunt May, I just sat and thought. "Yours truly, Aunt May." A gentle smile spread across my face, and I even managed to hide a hint of teariness in my eyes. Somewhat frantically, I clutched the hem of my shirt, as if attempting to contain the feelings that were building up within me. I can always count on you to guide and instruct me.
My eyes welled up with appreciation as I raised them to meet Aunt May's. "From fortifying me to educating me on survival techniques, medicinal plants, and magical potions, as I said for her medical herbs." Soon after, I lowered my head slightly in a gesture of genuine respect toward the woman who had grown to seem like family to me.
When I thanked Aunt May, she merely nodded slightly in response, but her smile was faint and silent.Aunt May persisted in her craft of making medicinal concoctions from herbs.
After that, I retreated to a spot behind a tree and waited for Aunt May to complete preparing and arranging the refreshments. And there were times when she was occupied with the tedious task of plant classification.
No idea what time it was, but Aunt May had been going about her business for what seemed like hours. So, I got up and went over to ask when we may leave to do the same thing like usually we did, as is customary.
Because curious, I went over to Aunt May after that.
"Aunt May, so are we going to leave like yesterday?" I said when I contacted Aunt May while I was at her place.
I walked up to Aunt May and said, "O-oh, Jia?!," which startled her. "Apologies for getting a bit carried away with the ingredients. Could you possibly do it on your own today? Simultaneously, you put into practice what you learned just yesterday. Jia, what do you think?"
Aunt May's words also surprised me.
"Alright, Aunt May," I nodded in agreement since what she stated was factual and accurate.
"I will be available for you today. Your teachings have been quite instructive." My wounds and Aunt May's have all healed, and I'm not sick or exhausted anymore, so there's that. The thought of abandoning Aunt May was terrifying to me. My motherlike relationship with Aunt May was the source of my concern.
