"I was seen by the creature..." and it has my identity figured out... A-Aunt May... My dad..." I am so afraid of "Dear GOD P-PLEASE..." My voice was barely audible, barely a whisper, as I trembled from a horror that seemed to freeze my own soul.
As if immobilized by an unseen power, my legs shook wildly and wouldn't move. It was as if I were utterly paralyzed by the utter stillness. Death, which had been patiently waiting for me the whole while, was all I could think of. It seemed as though God had just postponed my demise, extending it somewhat further.
Gancomon, a horrible insect-like monster that had formerly been human, started to creep up on me step by step, with a predatory stride. Its every motion sounded like the clap of a looming disaster. As it slowly opened its jaws, a gaping chasm formed, prepared to consume everything that crossed its path.
I was paralyzed. My muscles seemed to have solidified into stone as my entire body froze. A terrifying terror gripped my entire being, rendering me motionless. The surge of excitement coursing through me was so intense that it made my skin crawl and my hair stand on end. As the monster drew nearer, its gaping maw grew bigger and more visible; my fear intensified as the seconds ticked by. I was aware that this wasn't a nightmare. Yet in that instant, it was more terrifying than any nightmare I could have imagined.
Suddenly, death seemed imminent. Like a defenseless infant wailing for assistance inaudibly, I felt entangled in an inexorable web of terror.
I couldn't move for what felt like an eternity as the monster drew closer, its jaws agape, and prepared to devour me. In a state of utter panic, I shut my eyes and let out a series of silent sobs. Now this is it... In my head I sobbed, but I couldn't let out a scream.
Out of nowhere, from beneath a massive Jeringin tree, the monster was startled by the piercing crack of a gunshot. Even though I couldn't tell if the bullet had connected, the impact thawed my paralyzed body. For what seemed like an eternity, my terrified body was immobilized, and the only sound I could make out was my racing heartbeat.
It seemed like an eternity before I heard the voice again, but this time it was much clearer. My body shook all over again as I slowly opened my eyes to see what was happening.
A gaping hole in the insect's skull lay in front of me, and its head drooped to one side. The dead body was encircled by a pool of blood that had pooled around the wound and stained the ground below. It was hard for me to realize I was actually alive.
