My day went by like any other day. I’m getting tired of all these dull routines; I wanted something new, something fresh to keep me going. With my career and my love life are going nowhere, I think I’m starting to lose my mind. I just got out of the office, finally free of the shackles of my 12-hour boring desk job, at least for today. As always, I was going to top off my day with some beer and some cheap comedy show on TV. That is my life, boring and uneventful. Oh, What I would give for a change, and I mean big change.
I was on my way back to my apartment with a carton of beer in hand, absentmindedly staring on the pavement below as I take step after step closer to the only place I called home. I was reluctant. I got nothing to look forward to. Why would I be in a hurry? No one would greet me at the front door, no one would welcome me with an affectionate hug... No one.
“You and I will have a good time tonight, O’ faithful companion.” I lifted the pack of beer to level with my head and spoke to it with a forced medieval-ish British accent.
I think I did start to lose my mind. When I lifted my head to talk to my faithful companion, I realized that the street is pretty quiet that night. Not that it’s normally bustling with activity or anything, it’s just that it felt eerie somehow. Then I saw her, standing on the walkway right in front of my apartment building. The pale moonlight shone upon her, giving her a divine look. Most of her creamy beige skin is covered with an expensive-looking maroon blouse and a dark blue skirt that gave her a vintage impression. She was looking up the building as if sightseeing, showing off her beautiful neck. As I grew closer, I racked my brain for something to say to her. Should I just ignore her?
“Hi, excuse me.” Before my brain even made any decision, my mouth started to talk inadvertently. She startled a little and turned her head to look at me. She’s a total beauty. Her stunning blue eyes were staring deep right into mine as her red lips parted to give me an enchanting smile. Her golden hair sparkled under the moonlight. I’ve never seen someone as beautiful as she does, I can feel my face is burning red and I hope she didn’t notice.
“Yes?” She answered, her voice was soothing.
“Do you live in the building?” I stuttered a little as I spoke.
“I used to,” She gave me a brief response, what should I say next?
As if she noticed my struggle to come up with a thing to say, she added, “But I moved out a while ago.”
“I see,” I smiled, and held out my hand for a shake. As she grabbed my hand in a firm yet tender grasp, I could feel the chilly sensation against her skin.
