The Corrs Lost in Indonesia!

Shabrina Farha Nisa
Chapter #10

The Bike Ride That Ended in a Gili Meno Goat Pen

The morning of the ninth day was greeted with a different view. No longer the private beach of Lombok, but the calm blue waters separating Lombok from the famous Gili trio. President Nisa's entourage and The Corrs boarded a waiting private speedboat, heading to Gili Meno, the central island known for being the most peaceful and suitable for families (or, in this case, a VVIP group needing extra tranquility after the burnt chicken incident).

"So, there really are no cars or motorbikes on this island?" Sharon asked in amazement as their boat docked at Gili Meno's simple wooden jetty. Only a few cidomo (Lombok and Gili's distinctive horse-drawn carts) and bicycles were seen passing by on the sandy paths.

"That's right, Sharon," Nisa replied, stepping off the boat with the help of a quick-acting Presidential Guard. "Here, transportation is only by bicycle or on foot. The air is clean, the atmosphere is calm. Perfect for relaxation before we face the 'underwater terror' of snorkeling tomorrow." Nisa winked at Jim and Caroline, recalling their panic during their first snorkeling attempt long ago.

Their accommodation on Gili Meno was a cluster of beautiful beachfront bungalows with a modern Sasak architectural style. After dropping off their belongings and enjoying a welcome juice (Andrea first made sure there were no strange spice mixtures in it), the agenda for the day was: a leisurely bike ride around the island.

Colorful Dutch-style cruiser bikes (sepeda ontel) were lined up. Some were equipped with front baskets, others were tandem models (Nisa and Reza immediately chose this one), and there was also a mountain bike (which Alex instantly grabbed). The Corrs looked enthusiastic.

"Wow, it's been ages since I rode a bike!" Caroline exclaimed, attempting to mount the sky-blue bicycle she chose. She wobbled slightly at the start, making Andrea shout, "Be careful, Car! Don't fall into the sea before we go snorkeling!"

"Don't worry, I'm a good drummer, my balance must be excellent!" Caroline retorted confidently, then started pedaling with the spirit of '45.

The group began moving along the island's shaded paths, flanked by coconut trees and small stalls selling handicrafts. On one side, the view was of the calm turquoise-blue sea; on the other, the peaceful island village life. Nisa and Reza cycled leisurely in front, enjoying the moment together. Sharon and Andrea pedaled slowly, chatting and occasionally stopping for photos. Jim, of course, cycled at the very back, more preoccupied with observing the types of beach sand than enjoying the scenery. Alex? He had sped far ahead, probably searching for the best sunset photo spot.

Caroline, who was initially energetic at the front, somehow started to lag behind. Perhaps she was too busy enjoying the view, or maybe she saw a beautifully colored butterfly and tried to follow it. Without realizing it, when the main group turned right along the beach, Caroline continued straight onto a smaller path leading into the center of the island.

"Where's Caroline?" Nisa asked when she noticed the youngest Corr sister wasn't behind them as they stopped for a break to drink young coconut water.

Andrea and Sharon exchanged worried glances. "She was right behind me a moment ago," Andrea said. "Maybe she stopped briefly for a photo?"

They waited for a few minutes, but Caroline was nowhere to be seen. A hint of worry began to creep into Nisa and Reza. Alex, who had returned, also joined the search. The Presidential Guards scattered around the group started communicating via earpiece.
